जैसे ही बलूचिस्तान ने पाकिस्तान से 'आज़ादी का ऐलान' किया है और 85% इलाके और भारी खनिज संपदा पर अपना कंट्रोल होने का दावा किया है, चीन बलूचिस्तान में अपनी कॉपर-गोल्ड खदान बंद करने जा रहा है। 'फाइनेंशियल टाइम्स' की एक रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, बलूचिस्तान में चीन द्वारा चलाई जा रही सबसे बड़ी चालू कॉपर और गोल्ड खदान, 'सैंदक प्रोजेक्ट', को बढ़ते उग्रवादी हमलों की वजह से एक महीने के अंदर अपना कामकाज रोकना पड़ सकता है। खदान के MD ने पाकिस्तान के ऊर्जा मंत्रालय को पत्र लिखकर बताया कि सुरक्षा हालात बिगड़ने से ज़रूरी सामान की ढुलाई बुरी तरह प्रभावित हुई है और चेतावनी दी कि अगर जल्द सुधार नहीं हुआ तो कामकाज जारी रखना मुश्किल हो जाएगा। 29 जून के इस पत्र में कहा गया है कि हमलों के दौर के बीच सड़क मार्ग से यात्रा करना बहुत खतरनाक हो गया है। सैंदक खदान 2001 से चीन की सरकारी कंपनी 'मेटालर्जिकल कॉरपोरेशन ऑफ चाइना' को लीज़ पर दी गई है और इसे पाकिस्तान की सरकारी कंपनी SML के साथ मिलकर चलाया जा रहा है; इसकी लीज़ 2022 में बढ़ाई गई थी। यहाँ से निकलने वाले ज़्यादातर उत्पाद चीन को निर्यात किए जाते हैं, जो 'बेल्ट एंड रोड इनिशिएटिव' के तहत पाकिस्तान को सबसे ज़्यादा द्विपक्षीय कर्ज़ देने वाला देश भी है। As Balochistan 'declares independence' from Pakistan, claims control of 85% territory and vast mineral wealth, China to shut its copper-Gold mine in balochistan, largest active copper and gold mine, the China-operated Saindak project in Balochistan, may be forced to halt operations within a month due to worsening insurgent violence, according to a letter reviewed by the Financial Times. The letter, dated June 29, said road travel has grown increasingly dangerous amid a wave of attacks. Saindak has been leased since 2001 to China’s state-owned Metallurgical Corporation of China, operated jointly with Pakistan’s state-owned SML, with the lease extended in 2022.
