TUDO SOBRE PREP DA FARMÁCIA | VERDADES E MENTIRAS

In early 2023, PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis to HIV) will complete five years of implementation in Brazil. Science has reinforced the very high effectiveness of this prevention method, and every day changes in public policy allow for greater access to the pills. If you are not yet familiar with it, PrEP consists of taking a daily pill with antiretrovirals that prevents a person from becoming infected with HIV. The Brazilian public health system (SUS) still struggles to offer PrEP, especially in smaller cities, and restricts PrEP to some populations in situations of greater vulnerability. However, today it is possible to have medical follow-up in private services and buy PrEP in pharmacies. This has facilitated access for those people who are not part of the target populations, are in regions where the SUS does not offer it, or cannot access it due to high demand in the public health system. And it's to demystify the most frequent questions about PrEP bought at the pharmacy that I invited Gabriel Xandeco, my boyfriend, a health sciences student and PrEP user, for a very up-to-date "fact or fake" discussion. #PrEP #HIV #Ad
