Noto. Aggredì con un’ascia il compagno dell’ex moglie:67enne finisce in carcere per tentato omicidio

Carabinieri officers from the Noto Company have executed a preventive detention order against a 67-year-old man, already known to law enforcement for previous crimes against persons and property, who is considered a serious suspect in the crime of attempted aggravated murder, as well as illegal possession of an improperly equipped weapon. The order, issued by the Syracuse Court at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office, was notified in the past few hours and led to the suspect's transfer to the "Cavadonna" prison in Syracuse. The investigation, conducted by officers from the Noto Company's Mobile Radio Unit and coordinated by the Avola Prosecutor's Office, has allowed a detailed reconstruction of what happened on the morning of June 10th in Avola, when a street fight escalated into a violent attack. According to investigations, the 67-year-old man allegedly confronted his ex-wife's current partner and, at the height of the confrontation, repeatedly struck him with an axe, aiming the blows at the victim's upper limbs. Investigators believe the attack was motivated by jealousy and a deteriorating personal relationship. The attack could have had far more serious consequences if the victim had not been able to react and if passersby, attracted by the screams, had not intervened quickly, interrupting the violence and preventing further attacks. The injured man was immediately rescued and rushed to the Avola Hospital Emergency Room, where he was treated for his injuries. The evidence gathered during the investigation allowed the Prosecutor's Office to request a precautionary measure, which was granted by the preliminary investigations judge of the Court of Syracuse. The 67-year-old was subsequently arrested by the Carabinieri and taken to Cavadonna prison, where he remains at the disposal of the judicial authorities pending further developments in the proceedings. It should be noted that the suspect is presumed innocent until a final conviction is issued.
