FRATE COME AI TEMPI DELLA QUESTUA

/ 177461482383323   The initiatives promoted to mark the 400th anniversary of the Capuchin Friars' presence in Albino continue. The friary represents an institution, one of its most significant symbols. In fact, at that time, the Capuchin Friars were established in the friary of Vertova and were distinguished by their charity towards the contagiously ill; some friars even died caring for them. On October 13, 1613, they settled in Albino, where entire generations have passed. Seriana was, in fact, the first stage in the formative journey of young aspiring friars, recently returned to the headlines with the figure of Friar Tommaso da Olera, whose beatification is scheduled for September 21. Among them are those like Friar Giorgio who still practice begging, that is, direct and personal requests for and subsequent collection of donations by going door-to-door. Currently, the Albino community consists of eight friars and offers the local Church the testimony of their consecrated life in the footsteps of Francis and Clare of Assisi according to the charism of the Capuchin Friars Minor.
