Wish Ritual | Gayageum Performance at the Korean Spring Festival

This performance is inspired by nature and my walks through Oeam-ri Folk Village, a traditional Korean village. The program follows the journey of a young girl as she walks through the forest, along stone wall paths, and into a village filled with imagination and celebration. Along the way, she encounters the warmth of nature, listens to the voice of the wind, and discovers her own wishes and inner world. The performance concludes with Jeongwol Daeboreum, Korea’s traditional Full Moon Festival, where people write down their wishes and burn them together during the Dal-Jip Taeugi ritual while celebrating with music and dance. Through these original compositions for gayageum, I wanted to express the purity, imagination, warmth, and playful spirit that I experienced while walking through this peaceful landscape.
