Ручная печать (ночь в тёмной комнате) by А.Задорожный

The blog featured photographers from Khabarovsk: Alexander Zadorozhny (http://azador.com/) and Alexander Kolbin (http://fotokolbin.ru/), who vividly demonstrated what it's like to spend nights developing film in a darkroom. Alexander's description of the process: "In this video, I briefly cover what's needed to get started with manual black-and-white printing at home. I also demonstrate the photo printing process from start to finish. Since the process is primarily technical, the most important thing is the equipment itself. Specifically, at the time of creating the video, I had the following equipment at my disposal for printing (in order): 1. A Crocus-4SL enlarger with a Vega-5U lens and a replacement condenser from another Crocus (this is a huge lens unit that collects the light from the bulb in the body of the enlarger and projects it through the negative onto the board. It's common for Crocuses to have a ton of bubbles in the condenser; this is defective). The lamp is the original. The negative frame is the original, cleaned one. Condenser and diffuser lenses are available; quality is usually determined by the optics and uniformity of illumination. 2. The enlarger's shutter speed was controlled by a Sura-2 time relay. It's an old one, not always the case. It's reliable, but digital, and generally available. It has all the necessary functionality, but is only suitable for zooms that are directly connected to the power supply without a transformer. 3. The framing frame was a Soviet 18x24 frame, which I quickly converted to a 20x20 frame. The framing frame ensures the ease and speed of pressing the paper against the frame surface or the zoom base, as well as beyond the frame borders. Frames are a real pain these days, because large Soviet-made ones are impossible to find, and imported ones can cost $200-400 depending on the size. Modern professional Dunco ones are downright ugly. Alternatively, you can use a magnetic mat and a set of matte blanks made from a sheet of magnetically adhesive material, or just cardboard. 4. A regular red flashlight. 5. Household trays from a hardware store. 6. Brand-name tongs. 7. I order chemicals from Fotoapteka (d-76.ru). Developers, Fixatives, stop baths, and other tricks. The oldest online chemical store in Russia. They have a huge selection for any need, and are expanding their branches in other cities. The paper was originally from the same place. No focus scope, just eyeballing. I didn't use filters; the paper is mono-contrast. Measuring cups and containers are easy to find. An aquarium thermometer, from a pet store. I didn't polish anything. The paper is matte, barite, and I don't understand any other options.
