Béarn Muleteering - The Vocation of Pyrenean Muleteers A caravan of donkeys provides subsidized logistical support in the three valleys of Béarn, serving shepherds and summer pastures inaccessible by road. Muleteer and tree climber Romain Delage, in partnership with Romain Duci (accompanied here by a seasonal colleague from the Basque Country), uses donkeys to deliver supplies and transport cheeses made on some twenty summer pastures in the Aspe and Ossau valleys. A weekly gathering for shepherds like Jean-Yves Pauzader, allowing them to clear out their small salting vats during the summer grazing season, bring up fresh produce or essential goods, and exchange news...
