An American reacts to the most beautiful villages in the Lake District — and I had no idea England looked like this! Located in the northwest of England, the Lake District is known for its stunning landscapes, glacial lakes, and rugged mountains. It’s also home to Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, along with some of the deepest and largest natural lakes in the country. From charming villages like Grasmere and Hawkshead to hidden gems scattered throughout the region, this area feels like something straight out of a storybook. I can definitely see why so many people say this is one of the most beautiful places in the entire UK.
