Hang Gliding - Hackler's Fly-in, 1976
This was the only advertised fly-in held at Black Butte (AKA Hackler's Mountain). It was a 113 degree day!! Welcome to the summer in Northern California (Shingletown area). Our 'LZ' (dust bowl) was cleared for us by Charles Hackler, the owner of the site :). How cool was that! Remember, we were all fairly new pilots and many of us started on standards. The evolution of glider design is in full swing. Pilots are learning and honing their ridge and thermal soaring skills (some faster than others). Note a Quicksilver and a flex wing specking out!
