Phoebe Flewelling - Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924)"Donde lieta," Act III, LA BOHÈME

Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924) "Donde lieta," Act III, LA BOHÈME Separated by misunderstanding, Mimi and Rodolfo are united briefly, only for Mimi, realizing the severity of her illness, to once more say goodbye. Soprano PHOEBE FLEWELLING began singing professionally at the age of fourteen. A graduate of New England Conservatory of Music, she studied opera in Austria and at the Peabody Institute. The recipient of numerous awards and grants, Mrs. Flewelling created SHOESTRING OPERA, a program seen throughout New England on radio and TV, as well as in schools. She has performed several World Premières in both opera and art song and has performed opera in Europe and the U.S. In 1998, Mrs. Flewelling was a winner in both Artists International in New York City and in the Classical Divisions of the San Francisco Concerto Orchestra International Competition. In 1999, she won First Place in several divisions of the San Francisco Concerto Orchestra International Competition, in co-sponsorship with the Sherman Clay/Boston Music Festival and National Talk Show Competition. This CD is a composite of opera and art songs performed at those competitions. DANIEL GLOVER is one of northern California's premier virtuos S TO PRESENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL ITS MEMBERS TO BE FEATURED ARTISTS AS SOLOISTS, CONDUCTORS OR COMPOSERS. Founded by pianist, composer and artistic director Seth Montfort, the competition attracts musicians from the U.S. and abroad. In 1999, the orchestra was joined in sponsorship by the Sherman Clay/Boston Music Festival and the National Talk Show Competition. The orchestra has received many excellent press reviews, and one in particular from the San Francisco Sun Times encapsulates its spirit particularly well: "to hear San Francisco Concerto Orchestra is to hear Music straight from the heart." #phoebe #flewelling #phoebeflewelling #opera #newenglandconservatory #shoestringopera #giacomopuccini
