Sustenance Comes Unexpectedly! This is a Secret from the Quran that is Rarely Discussed! Sustenance in the Perspective of the Quran: Between Effort, Prayer, and Trust Sustenance is one of the things that most often attracts human attention. Many people assume that sustenance is solely the result of hard work, intelligence, or connections. However, in the perspective of the Quran, sustenance is a form of God's love given to every one of His creatures—without exception. The Quran mentions that God has guaranteed sustenance for all creatures on earth: "And there is no moving (living) creature on earth but that God provides its sustenance." (QS. Hud: 6) However, this promise of God does not mean that humans are free from effort. In Islam, effort (ikhtiar) is an important part of the process of obtaining sustenance. The Quran also emphasizes the importance of working and struggling, as in His words: "It is He who made the earth easy for you, so travel in its various directions and eat of His sustenance." (QS. Al-Mulk: 15) In addition, sustenance is also closely related to piety. In QS. At-Talaq: 2-3, God promises a way out and sustenance from an unexpected direction for the pious. This confirms that spirituality and noble morals have a great impact on the blessings of sustenance. The Qur'an also reminds us that sustenance is not only material. Health, free time, peace of mind, and a harmonious family are also included in the sustenance category. Therefore, the measure of sustenance is not always about how many possessions there are, but how many blessings and benefits they have. By understanding the concept of sustenance in the Qur'an, we are invited to be more grateful, not envious of other people's sustenance, and focus on improving our relationship with God and fellow human beings.
