Tripod Beagle Visits a Trio of Waterfalls in DuPont State Forest | Triple Falls | High Falls

We took our mutt and three-legged beagle to visit three fantastic waterfalls in DuPont State Forest, located in the Southern part of the Western North Carolina Mountains. We were able to get up close with Triple Falls, High Falls, and Grassy Creek Falls. We chose these three falls due to their size, beauty, proximity to each other, and our ability to hit them all in an easy and relaxing 6-mile, 4-hour trek. The Dupont State Forest, known for its waterfalls, is located just 40 miles south of Asheville and less than 15 miles east of the city of Brevard. The name of the forest is derived from the DuPont company's arrangement for the sale of the original tract to the state. The forest is indeed blessed with many stunningly beautiful waterfalls and consequently was used to shoot scenes from both The Last of the Mohicans (the "canoe over the falls" scene at the nearby Hooker Falls) as well as The Hunger Games (Katniss discovers the injured Peeta at the base of Triple Falls).
