RNAV Approach at KPWT
After a missed approach at Jefferson County International (0S9), I picked up my IFR clearance to Bremerton National Airport (KPWT), about 35 miles south, where the weather was basic VFR beneath a ceiling of about 1800 ft. I flew the RNAV (GPS) RWY 20 approach at Bremerton, which has minimums that match the ILS to the same runway, with an LPV DA of 642 MSL, just 200 ft above the touchdown zone. ATC cleared me to join the approach at GITRE, where I intercepted the final approach course and followed the 3-degree GP to the runway. Note that Bremerton has surface-based Class E airspace, so you must comply with the basic VFR weather requirements in § 91.155. You can’t cancel IFR just because you have the airport in sight. Now join me in the Bonanza as Whidbey Approach clears me to Bremerton.
