Before being annexed to Brazil, it belonged to Bolivia and Peru. It is located in the North Region, in the Amazon biome, and the predominant climate is humid equatorial. The state is a major exporter of Brazil nuts and timber, as well as being the country's main rubber producer. History of Acre Until the second half of the 19th century, Acre was inhabited by indigenous populations and was still part of Bolivian and Peruvian territories. From 1877 onwards, motivated by latex exploitation, the first migrants from the Northeast region of the country arrived in Acre. Between 1899 and 1909, disputes over control of the area were fought between Bolivians, Peruvians, and the Brazilians who were there. The conflicts with the Bolivians culminated in the Treaty of Petrópolis in 1903, when Brazil acquired the territory of Acre. The conflict with the Peruvians, in turn, ended six years later. On June 15, 1962, Acre was elevated to the status of a state. Geography of Acre Acre is located in the Northern Region of Brazil and is part of the Amazon biome. The Acrean territory borders the states of Amazonas and a small strip of Rondônia to the east. It also borders two countries: Peru, along its entire western portion, and Bolivia, to the southeast. The westernmost point of Brazilian territory is located in Acre. This is the Serra do Divisor mountain range, which houses the source of the Moa River. Moa River The Moa River is a watercourse that flows through the state of Acre. Located in the Serra do Divisor, on the Brazil-Peru border, its source is the westernmost point of Brazil. Its main source is in Peruvian territory. Moa River Basin The river, a tributary of the Juruá River, has many waterfalls and rapids, and this region boasts the greatest variety of palm trees in the world. The average annual temperature of the river is 23.5°C, and it is navigable by small vessels almost year-round. At certain times of the year, stretches of rapids appear, making extreme sports possible. On the right bank of the river, the Nuquinis Indians live within the park. There is an ongoing process to create the "Moa River Indigenous Reserve," which will also house Indians of the Nawa ethnicity. The Moa National Park is located in the Serra do Divisor National Park, which is the fourth largest national park in Brazil and was created in 1989. Serra do Divisor National Park The Serra do Divisor National Park is a Brazilian conservation unit for the full protection of nature located in the state of Acre, on the border with Peru, with territory distributed among the municipalities of Cruzeiro do Sul, Mâncio Lima, Marechal Thaumaturgo, Porto Walter, and Rodrigues Alves. The park's administration is currently the responsibility of the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), an autonomous agency linked to the Ministry of the Environment. The park, along with the national parks of Cabo Orange, Tumucumaque Mountains, Mount Roraima, and Pico da Neblina, forms the group of border national parks of the Brazilian Amazon. The natural beauties of the Serra Numerous waterfalls, rapids, natural pools, and cascades make the Serra the most beautiful place in Acre. From the mountain range gush crystal-clear water, which gradually turns yellow due to the influence of the buriti palm groves, a species that occurs extensively throughout the mountain range. On either side, the Serra opens a passage for the Môa River, which flows between stone barriers. Among the numerous waterfalls, the best known are Buraco Central, Amor, Ar-Condicionado, Pirapora I and II, Formosa, and Cachoeira Grande. Another unmissable spot is a visit to the Mirante da Serra viewpoint, the highest point in the park. The trail next to the Waterfall of Love leads up to the Serra Viewpoint, where the highest peak in the park is located, at 609 meters. It is one of the most visited spots, with a very steep 1.2km trail. Despite the relatively short distance, the trail demands a lot of stamina from those who decide to venture along it. Although the distance is relatively short, the trail to the Serra viewpoint requires a lot of effort, but it's worth it because the reward is a beautiful view of the entire Serra do Divisor National Park.
