Sarah McQuaid - Garage Sessions 4: Crow Coyote Buffalo

As I prepare to set off on my marathon spring-summer UK tour (see https://sarahmcquaid.com/tour for details), here’s another Garage Sessions video! This one was filmed and recorded between my UK and US tours last autumn; with all the touring we’ve been doing since then, it’s taken Martin a while to get round to editing it, but I hope you’ll agree that it’s been worth the wait. The song was co-written with the very wonderful Zoë Pollock (of “Sunshine On A Rainy Day” fame) and is the title track of the album Zoë and I made together under the band name Mama. A live version of the song also features as a bonus track on my recent Bandcamp exclusive archival release “Walking Into White Live In Rapid City.” For this video, I thought it would be appropriate to wear the beautiful 1970s maxi dress Zoë gave me back in 2008 when we were making the Mama album. I’ve been wearing it for nearly all the gigs I’ve done since, and have commissioned seamstress Bronwyn Hocking of Kosella Mor Couture to make me a couple of replicas of it in different colours. I couldn’t be more grateful to Zoë — not just for the dress but for teaching me pretty much everything I know about songwriting, introducing me to Martin who’s been my manager and sound engineer (and latterly lighting designer as well) for the past 17 years, and being the lovely human being she is — do check out @zoepollockart, the new Instagram account she’s created to showcase the beautiful artwork she’s been focusing on of late.
