Comparison: 1969 Martin D-28 (Brazilian) vs 1971 Martin D18

I just got the 1969 Martin D28 back from Blackbird music where a couple of cracks were fixed and a new saddle put on. The setup is just about perfect. I got this in 1970 and it is one of the last production guitars built with Brazilian rosewood. I got the 1971 Martin D18 a couple of months ago, the action is a bit high but otherwise it’s in really good shape. It has mahogany back and sides. Both guitars have new phosphor bronze strings. The D28 has light strings (12s), the D18 has custom lights (11s). I compare the two guitars doing approximately the following: basic strums Carter family song and picking fiddle tune finger picking (sort of) this was a little rough my attempt at some blues in E final strums This is a fairly long video so feel free to fast forward or dip in and out. I thought the bass was much more pronounced on the D28, but both guitars sounded good, but they were different. I will bring the D18 into the shop and get a proper adjustment and setup to lower the action so that I can use light gauge strings (12s)
