Randy Muller on The Paradise Garage days and Brass Construction | Red Bull Music Academy

► Subscribe to Red Bull Music Academy: https://win.gs/SubscribeRBMA Randy Muller is the brains behind a stack of 1970s classics. Working with bands such as Brass Construction, BT Express and Skyy, he brought orchestral strings to funk, was at the forefront of synth disco and a stalwart of the mighty Salsoul label. As an arranger, producer and songwriter Muller has been responsible for hundreds of songs, many of which would go on to become classics and influence his contemporaries. In this lecture at the 2007 Red Bull Music Academy, he talks about playing steel drums as a child in Guyana, moving to New York and how the city’s public school system acted a breeding ground for musical talent. ► https://www.redbullmusicacademy.com/l... #RandyMuller #FunkMusic #RedBullMusicAcademy __________________________ TOPICS: 02:53 - Guyana to Brooklyn  21:36 - Brass Construction  34:52 - BT Express  47:17 - Sonic palette  1:00:14 - The Paradise Garage days  1:25:14 - New Projects  MUSIC: 22:00 - Brass Construction – “Take It Easy”    • Brass Construction - Take It Easy   35:31 - BT Express – “Express”    • BT Express - Express   36:31 - Silver Convention – “Fly Robin, Fly”    • Silver Convention - Fly Robin Fly   38:17 - Brass Construction – “Movin’”    • Brass Construction - Movin'   43:00 - Brass Construction – “Changin’”    • Brass Construction - Changin'   1:03:38 - Skyy – “Here’s To You”    • Video   1:08:18 - Charles Earland – “Let The Music Play”    • charles earland let the music play   1:10:25 - Tamiko Jones – “Can’t Live Without Your Love”    • Video   1:21:47 - Skyy – “High”    • Skyy - High   1:24:58 - Skyy – “No Music”    • Video   1:39:31 - Randy Muller Boom Chang Bang – “Groovin’ U”    • Randy Muller Groovin' U   1:39:56 - Randy Muller – “Standing In The Rain” 1:40:34 - Soul Biscuits – “Beautiful Day”    • Brooklyn Soul Biscuits   Beautiful Day   The Red Bull Music Academy is a global music institution committed to fostering creativity in music. We celebrate music, its culture, and the transformative minds behind it. Begun in 1998, the Academy has taken the core principles that underlie its annual workshop for selected participants and applied this curatorial approach to events, lectures, and city-wide festivals throughout the year. ► Visit Red Bull TV: http://win.gs/1uy4YFF ► Subscribe to our YouTube Channel: https://win.gs/SubscribeRBMA ► Visit our official website: http://win.gs/avjLrK ► Our latest videos on YouTube: http://bit.ly/12nkX7h ► Follow us on Twitter: http://bit.ly/Lx4wQy ► Like us on Facebook: http://on.fb.me/12N5Ch0
