Triumph Scrambler 400 XC Quick Test – What Can the Little Scrambler Really Do? Today I had the Triumph Scrambler 400 for a day – the opportunity arose while my Himalayan 450 was in for service. It was my first time on a small scrambler, and I was curious to see if the 40 hp and low weight were more to my liking than the 900cc model I tested some time ago. In this short review, I'll share my first impressions with you: 🏍️ Chassis & Handling: Not super agile (probably due to the 19-inch front wheel), but pleasantly comfortable – the fork and shock respond well. 🔧 Brakes: The Brembo front brake provides excellent stopping power. The rear brake lever travel is a bit too long for my liking. ⚙️ Engine: Despite being "only" 400cc, it's surprisingly powerful and delivers strong acceleration from 5,000-6,000 rpm. The single-cylinder engine runs a bit rough in the lower gears – but I'm familiar with that from my Himalayan. 🪑 Comfort: Comfortable, upright riding position, relaxed knee angle, wide handlebars. The grips could have been a few millimeters wider. 🎯 My main criticism: The side stand is almost too long – the bike stands nearly vertically and tends to tip over to the right on uneven ground. I'll also mention the crisp exhaust note, the spoked wheels with tubeless rims, and the luggage capacity. My conclusion after the first few kilometers: a truly fun motorcycle!
