DARK SOULS III - Nameless King on Piano

After so many Shadow of the Erdtree covers, I decided to take a detour and return to my favorite From Software OST, Dark Souls III. I was, of course, also inspired by seeing this boss's surprise appearance in Nightreign, which I am very excited to play! Seeing the Nameless King take flight once again made me realize I just HAD to do this cover, as it already is one of my favorite songs from the franchise and hopefully we will be hearing it plenty during our upcoming battles in Limveld. Perhaps it will be remastered or re-recorded but regardless, this original version is iconic. Also - not seeing any synthesia-style covers of it here on YouTube despite the game being out for 9 years, I felt a deep urge to rise to the challenge. Motoi Sakuraba never disappoints. I love how he brings his progressive rock/metal influences into the song as well as echoes of his disturbing, strange, and wonderful Dark Souls 1 OST style. You really need to listen to his solo work if you haven't yet (Gikyokuonsou from 1991). While I've arranged his songs less frequently (because they are often very hard to adapt to piano), he is my favorite From Software composer. I have amazing memories of this boss fight, it was also one of my favorite from a gameplay and visual spectacle perspective. He was such a fantastic challenge and I think it took me a while week of attempts before downing him - exactly what I'm looking for from a Fromsoft boss. For me, there is no true victory without struggle! All around, a 10/10 encounter for me. Sheets will come in the future. Next up I will likely return to Elden Ring, either Nightreign or more Shadow of the Erdtree. Hoping we get some epic new themes from Nightreign!
