Speaker Website Page: https://www.prehealthshadowing.com/co... About the Speaker Thea L. Swenson, nee Theodora Lananh Tran, was born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Denver, Colorado. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering: Product Design from Stanford University and received a Medical Degree from the University of Colorado. She is currently a resident physician at Vanderbilt University with interests in sports medicine. Prior to medical school, she spent several years working in product design for health tech companies. Frustrated by the way our healthcare system functions (or doesn’t function), she went to medical hoping she could use her product design background to build a better healthcare system. About Pre-Health Shadowing Pre-Health Shadowing was created in response to the ongoing pandemic. Due to COVID-19, many in-person shadowing and clinical opportunities have been annulled. This has disrupted the paths of thousands of pre-health students as these hours are crucial for the academic and professional development needed for a successful health program applicant. Students interested in pursuing a career in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, research, physical therapy, or are just curious are encouraged to attend. Pre-Health shadowing was built to accommodate the lives of students, giving options to attend the live zoom or review the video at a later time. Students can receive a certificate verifying their participation in the program, upon completed a short assessment following the session. We host various health professionals from different backgrounds to talk about their job, education, extracurricular activities, admissions process, daily tasks, interesting cases, tips and more.
