Maison Horta à Saint-Gilles : l'Art Nouveau dans toute sa splendeur - J'ai les clés S02E11

At the height of his artistic achievements, Victor Horta's house in Saint-Gilles invites us to discover a life marked by Art Nouveau. Patrick Weber takes out his set of keys to tell the story. But who was Victor Horta? Born in Ghent in 1861, he enrolled in the architecture department of the Ghent Academy of Fine Arts in 1873. Five years later, he moved to Paris and joined the studio of architect and decorator Jules Debuysson. This stay inspired him and left a lasting impression. In 1880, he returned to Belgium following the death of his father. A year later, he married and moved to Brussels before beginning an internship with Alphonse Balat, Leopold II's favorite architect. In 1884, he won the prestigious Godecharle First Prize for Architecture. The house he designed in Saint-Gilles would be more than just a living space for the architect; it would be his calling card. 0:00 Horta House in Saint-Gilles: Art Nouveau in all its splendor - I Have the Keys S02E11 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 📌 Also watch "I Have the Keys" on: RTBF TV website ► https://www.rtbf.be/archive/j-ai-les-...
