Medic 101: The Crusader's Crossbow

The Crusader’s Crossbow is not a TF2 Medic weapon. It’s a message. A warning. An ancient artifact smuggled into Team Fortress 2 disguised as a projectile-based healing tool. Every time you fire it, it does NOT travel through the air… it travels through time. You think you’re aiming? The crossbow aims back. Why does it curve? Why does it heal through walls? Why does it crit randomly on full-health teammates during KOTH Lakeside when no one’s watching? Because the bolt knows. Ask any top Medic main in Highlander, 6v6, UGC, ETF2L, even Casual servers… the longer you use the Crossbow, the more it changes you. You start landing shots you didn’t aim. You start ignoring teammates. You stop using the Medigun altogether. Eventually, the Crossbow becomes your main weapon. Then your only weapon. And then the voices start. The first time you taunt with it, the sound is normal. The second time, it’s… off. The third time, it whispers: “Crusade accepted.” Look at the model. There’s a symbol carved on the handle. A circle with nine arrows. That’s not decoration. That’s the Respawn Core Diagram—the layout of the soul-preservation net that controls respawn behavior in TF2 servers. This weapon isn’t just coded to heal. It’s coded to tag players for resurrection. Why do you think it works at long range? Why do you think it bypasses invuln detection sometimes? Because it’s not healing. It’s reinstating your presence in the round. And the crits? Not random. If you hit 3 bolts in a row on teammates with different hats, the next one will crit. Always. Test it on pl_badwater during setup. Then go into the killcam. You’ll see a face. Not yours. This weapon is banned from all Mannpower modes. Not for balance reasons—because in Mannpower, the Crossbow has no bolt limit. It keeps firing, even after your ammo hits 0. Even after you’ve died. Even after the match ends. I once played a pub where every player used the Crossbow. There were no kills. Just healing. Infinite healing. We were all at 150%. Then the payload disappeared. The map broke. Everyone stood still. And one by one, we all became ghosts. All identical. No voice lines. Just bolts. I left. But it followed me. I launched a demo on cp_process, but I loaded into a blank white map. No textures.
