Princess Píngyáng (平陽公主) is one of the most remarkable women in Chinese history that you've likely never heard of. She's not Mulan. She's not Mu Guiying. Before the rise of the female Emperor Wǔ Zétiān, this incredible woman, the daughter of Emperor Gāozǔ, played a crucial role in founding the Tang Dynasty. Raised as a warrior, she defied expectations to raise her own Army of the Lady and personally led them to victory, clearing the path for her father's takeover. CORRECTION: Princess Píngyáng is called Lǐ Sānniáng (李三娘) because she is the third daughter of Lǐ Yuān, not because she is the third child.
