Unlike their previous solution based on a server with GPU and Home Assistant, this new approach allows training an artificial intelligence model directly on the device, locally, thanks to the Edge Impulse platform. The Poulain Brothers demonstrate training a model to detect baby cries, by collecting and comparing different environmental sounds to improve accuracy. Once the model is ready, they integrate it into a 3D printed object for discreet use... And reassured parents! The Arduino, connected via Wi-Fi, then triggers actions via HTTP requests to Home Assistant, such as turning on a light when a baby cry is detected or alerting parents on their phone that their child is crying. The video highlights the flexibility of this solution, allowing sound recognition to be adapted to specific needs.
