How Far We've Come [[ 4 Years with Murphy ]]

Cannot believe how these years have flown in! I started riding when I was 5 and was never able to have my own horse due to family circumstances. I wished for 13 years to have my own horse but honestly never believed it would be possible. My family weren't horsey at all and thought I would 'grow out of it'. Then due to family illness and bereavement it wouldn't have been possible to get a horse anyway. I really gave up hope of ever having my own. I even quit riding altogether for about 8 months. But after getting backing into horses for about a year when I was 18 the opportunity finally came up by complete chance to buy a scrawny, dirty little 3 year old coloured horse and to break him in. I jumped at the chance before even seeing him outside of the stable! I paid for him with all my own money and have never had a single pennys help in keeping him. Many times I thought I had made a terrible decision, the first 6 months were horrendous and he was impossible to even get near. He reared continuously and was the most nervous, mistrusting horse I had ever worked with. The abuse I got on youtube when I first got Murphy was beyond shocking, I was told he would be ruined by me, he was useless, would never make anything and would be better shot! People said he was too much for me and I was messing everything up. But finally it clicked with us and we have never looked back :) This year has been the year that I finally feel like we have got to where we want to be :) He may not be some amazing, well bred showjumper and I may not be an amazing rider, but we are perfect for each other & I can honestly say he has changed my life! I don't know where I'd be without this horse. So looking forward to the next year with him ! Hope for many more years to come ! Thank you all SO much for helping me to reach 40,000 subbers!!!
