How to dance Video Log Q&A Content: How to use your hands in dance: 1. Dancing is like talking We use our hands naturally when we speak and dont't focus on what our hands are doing. The same works for dance, your hands are the extention of your dance. They translate whatever your body is trying say. 2. Use real life actions / imaginary objects: Dancers often take inspiration in real life actions or the use of imaginary objects for their movement. Examples of this are the use of an imaginary ball, stick or plate. This helps them to move inside of a single concept and dig out movement usable for their hands. If you keep moving with only one concept your body gets used to this movement and can later on variete with it in level, energy, size, speed, power etc. 3.The 5 Hand Forms The 5 hand forms are 5 positions dancers often put their hands naturally in while dancing. The 5 forms are: Open fingers, Closed fingers, Balled, Point and Loop. Every hand form gives a different feeling and meaning to your dance. How to practice coordination: 1.Dancing is like walking When we walk we naturally move our and legs in accordance to eachother. Just like walking, dance should feel natural and body parts should be the extention of one other. If the focus lies in movement with the legs, find the motion of your arms, head, schoulders etc. that seems to move natural with the movement of the legs. 2.The 5 Coordination Forms There are five ways to move your body parts in accordance to one other in dance. These 5 ways of connections are the basic 5 directions body parts will always move in. The 5 forms are: Together - Opposites - One after another - One moves other - One triggers other. Adding these togehter creates a very complex and advanced dance. How to use the 4 elements in dance: 1. Merge with the elements See your body as the element and move to the music like the element would move to the music. This will help your body to get used to complete different ways of movement and structures and with that will create more ways to move to the music. the 4 elements are: Water, Fire, Wind and Earth. 2. Put the element to the movement Taking all your techniques, steps, moves and learn to do them with the energy and structure of the 4 element. Through this exercise you will be able to adjust all your movement different feelings and sounds in the music. 3.Find the elements in the music Sounds can inspire us to see physical things. Just like in movies music tells us stories. Connectiong the elements to sounds in the music helps with translating the real energy and feeling of the different sounds in the music.
