ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಮರಳುಗಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆಯುವ ಸೌದಿ ಅರೇಬಿಯಾ ಮೂಲದ ಖರ್ಜೂರದ ತಳಿಯೊಂದು ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಬಯಲುಸೀಮೆ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆದು ನಿಂತಿದೆ. ಚಿಕ್ಕಬಳ್ಳಾಪುರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ ಗೌರಿಬಿದನೂರು ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಸಾಗಾನಹಳ್ಳಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಯುವರೈತ ದಿವಾಕರ್‌ಚೆನ್ನಪ್ಪ ತಮ್ಮ ತೋಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಖರ್ಜೂರ ಬೆಳೆಯುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲೂ ಈ ತಳಿ ಬೆಳೆಯುವ ಅವಕಾಶಗಳು ಇವೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಸೌದಿ ಅರೇಬಿಯಾ, ಕತಾರ್, ಕುವೈತ್, ಇರಾಕ್ ಮತ್ತು ಇರಾನ್ ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆಯಲಾಗುವ ಖರ್ಜೂರದಲ್ಲಿ ಖನಿಜಾಂಶಗಳು ಹೇರಳವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಹಲವು ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾಕ ಗುಣಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಬೇಡಿಕೆ ಮತ್ತು ಮೌಲ್ಯ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಖರ್ಜೂರ ಬೆಳೆಯನ್ನು ಭಾರತದ ರಾಜಸ್ಥಾನ, ಗುಜರಾತ್, ತಮಿಳುನಾಡು ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳ ಸೀಮಿತ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ಬೆಳೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಅಂತೆಯೇ ಚಿಕ್ಕಬಳ್ಳಾಪುರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಮಣ್ಣಿನಗುಣ ಮತ್ತು ಹವಾಗುಣಗಳು ಪೂರಕವಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಖರ್ಜೂರ ಬೆಳೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಸೌದಿ ಅರೇಬಿಯಾ ಮೂಲದ ಬರ್ಹಿ ಎಂಬ ಖರ್ಜೂರದ ತಳಿಯೊಂದನ್ನು ಮೊದಲ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ರೈತ ದಿವಾಕರ್‌ಚೆನ್ನಪ್ಪ, ತನ್ನ ಎರಡು ಎಕರೆ ಕೃಷಿ ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸತತ ಎಂಟು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ 150 ಗಿಡಗಳನ್ನು ನೆಟ್ಟು, ಸಾವಯವ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪೋಷಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷದ ಜುಲೈ ತಿಂಗಳಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಇಳುವರಿ ತರುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಆದಾಯ ಗಳಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಫಲತೆ ಕಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ತಮ್ಮ ಮರಳು ಮಿಶ್ರಿತ ಕೆಂಪು ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಜಮೀನಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಹನಿನೀರಾವರಿ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯ ಮೂಲಕ ರೈತ ದಿವಾಕರ್ ಖರ್ಜೂರ ಬೆಳೆಯನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ರೈತ ದಿವಾಕರ್ ಭಿನ್ನ-ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಯೋಚನೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ತನ್ನದೇ ಆದ ಮಾರುಕಟ್ಟೆ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕಳೆದ ೪ ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಖರ್ಜೂರದ ಫಸಲನ್ನ ಮಾರುಕಟ್ಟೆಗೆ ತರೆದೆ ತನ್ನದೇ ತೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ತನ್ನ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು, ಪರಿಚಯಸ್ಥರನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಿ ಕೊಯ್ಲು ಹಬ್ಬದ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಖರ್ಜೂರವನ್ನ ಮಾರಾಟ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ತೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ಗ್ರಾಹಕರು ತಮಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದಷ್ಟು ಖರ್ಜೂರ ಕಾಟಾವು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಹಣ ಪಾವತಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹಲವು ಮಂದಿ ತೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿ ತಾಜಾ, ಅತ್ಯಂತ ರುಚಿಕರ ಮತ್ತು ಸಿಹಿಯಾದ ಖರ್ಜೂರವನ್ನು ನೇರವಾಗಿ ತೋಟದಲ್ಲೇ ಕಿತ್ತು ತಿಂದು ಖುಷಿಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ರೈತ ದಿವಾಕರ್‌ಚೆನ್ನಪ್ಪ ಅವರ ಸಾಧನೆ ಇತರರಿಗೆ ಮಾದರಿ ಅಂತ ಖುಷಿಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. One of the most commonly grown in the desert, the Saudi Arabian-based peanuts, is the first in the state to grow in the plains. Diwakarchennappa, a youth from Saganahalli village in Gauribidanur taluk of Chikkaballapur district, has shown that there are chances of this breeding in Karnataka by growing Dates (kharjura) in his garden.  Growing in minerals, mostly in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq and Iran, minerals are rich and have many therapeutic properties. Glorious crops are already grown in the limited districts of India, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. Similarly, Dates (Khajura) crop is successful here because of the soil and climatic conditions of Chikkaballapur district. Diwakarchennappa, a farmer for the first time, has raised a herb breed called Berhi, based in Saudi Arabia, and planted 150 plants for eight consecutive years on two acres of farmland. The high yield in July of each year has been a success. Farmer Diwakar is growing Kharjura, Dates crop through his rainwater harvesting system on his sandy red soil. Farmer Diwakar has made his own marketing arrangements with different ideas. For the past 5 years, Dates (Kharjura) has been sold in the name of harvesting festivals by inviting his friends and acquaintances to his own plantation. Customers who come to the plantation pay as much as they want. Many people visit the garden and enjoy the fresh, delicious and sweet Dates (kharjura) tucked away in the garden.
