Winter on the Swedish Railway part 18 - Trains in Karlstad

Filmed on February 24 and 25, 2026 at Karlstad Central in Värmland. The video contains the trains X2000 (X2), Rc2, Rc4, Rc6, X52, X53, X55, TMZ, Y31 and locomotive 243. The trains ran as SJ Snabbtåg, SJ InterCity, SJ Regional, Värmlandstrafik, Tågab freight train, Hectorrail service train and Green Cargo freight train. On February 24, traffic was stopped past Kil due to a signal fault, which led to many trains being cancelled or only going to Karlstad. At the beginning of the video you can see some of how traffic was affected. Karlstad Central is undergoing a major renovation that is nearing completion, and the new station will be completely finished this year! One of the most important parts that remains is the underpass that leads to the new tracks 3 and 4. Currently, those tracks can only be accessed via the footbridge at the eastern end of the station, making it extremely difficult to change from track 21 to 3/4B.
