Alessandro Moreschi Preghiera Tosti (Revised)

Alessandro Moreschi - the last recorded castrato. The Castrati were men who were forcefully castrated at an early age to ensure they did not experience the hormonal changes of puberty that led to the diminution of the male voice. This meant that, as adult men, they sang like a modern soprano (they kept their soprano voices as a child). After the Catholic Church asked that all nations forbid the practice, Pope Leo XIII took the remaining Castrati to the care of the Sistine Chapel Choir to guarantee them a quiet life (at the time they had become ridiculed)Moreschi is the only castrato recorded alone. In this recording he is almost 50 or 45 years old and has lost much of the quality of his voice.; however, this project tries to listen to its voice in its heyday.
