Baby Gate Build ASMR

No flashy edits. Just a bit of woodworking with some lovely noises and moments in between. This project was for a dear friend of mine and his growing family. The gate was built out of maple for the frame to match the existing railing, and poplar for the balusters. Osmo oil was used in an attempt to colour match, but ended up going with Rubio Monocoat with a dab of tint. The swing of the gate was too powerful, so I modified some Blum tip-on soft close hardware and springs to help dampen the close. One constraint was to not have the post protruding too much so that they could easily bring laundry baskets through the opening. Was able to get the post nearly flush with the angled wall to prevent getting caught on it as you walk through. Fun little project! More projects on my Instagram page @jbearcontracting
