WING CHUN: How to use Chi Sao to block hook punches
In this video, we go over how Chi Sao can be used to block (or rather stop) hooks in a self defense situation. The key points are: 1. Do not try to block hooks from a distance using Wing Chun movements. There are better systems for dealing with strikes at range (think Western boxing). 2. Always seek to close distance and make contact with your opponent. This allows you to 'feel' their movement, as opposed to trying to see it. 3. Develop good posture/structure so that you can connect your opponent's pressure into the floor. This allows you to control their structure, and any potential punches they might throw.
