Maharaj Ghulam Hussain Kathak was the guru of Pakistani classical dancer Nahid Siddiqui. The greatest contribution that he made was to bring forth a dance artist such as Nahid Siddiqui. By placing Maharaj’s name on the map she graciously gave him due and respect. She evolved that early training and influence into a unique style and aesthetic of her own. Siddiqui’s lifelong research, dance narratives, and impeccable technique have established her as an internationally renowned dance artist, choreographer, and teacher to a generation of new dancers. Maharaj Ghulam Hussain and Nahid Siddiqui had deep regard and respect for one another and for kathak.
