It is the most visited tourist destination in the Bavarian part of the Rhön region, with up to 600,000 visitors annually. From the monastery, a steep climb up 294 steps or a Stations of the Cross with 13 picture chapels leads to the striking Crucifixion Group with three Golgotha crosses below the summit. The summit cross, an impressive wooden structure, offers fantastic views of the Rhön landscape. Nearby is the Kreuzberg transmitter station, with a 227-meter-high transmission tower for radio, television, and broadcasting. Other highlights include the "Weitblick" viewing point, the modern candlelight chapel from 2002 with a green roof, and the simple Franciscan monastery church. The monastery complex also houses a traditional brewery, where the famous Kreuzberg beer has been brewed since 1731, as well as a guesthouse.
