With his wife, Betty (Anne Francis), son, Dennis (Rudy Lee), a typical American boy, and the Yankees on a winning streak, he is happy. But he doesn't know when he's well off. Review: ""The Great American Pastime" is little-league baseball. Of course. the title was chosen for its possible double meaning and it's persuasive designation for a captivating family comedy. Tom Ewell is the closest thing we have today to the late Robert Benchley [with] the same ability to render a flat line with humorous effect.
