I hope you enjoy this new drum cover! As a drummer, my aim is to constantly improve my drumming skills. Let me know what you think of this drum performance and the drum beats I've laid down! ‘Nowhere Man’ is an original song by The Beatles, written by John Lennon and credited to Lennon/McCartney. It was recorded on 21 and 22 October 1965 at Studio Two, EMI Studios (Abbey Road), London. The song was released on 3 December 1965 in the United Kingdom as part of the album Rubber Soul. This was one of the first Beatles songs not to be about love, but instead explored existential themes of alienation and emotional disconnection. John Lennon wrote it whilst in a state of solitary contemplation at his home in Weybridge, feeling isolated. The recording was made in *five very quick takes* on 22 October, with sound engineer Norman Smith and producer George Martin. The first thing to be recorded was the rhythm track with electric guitars and Ringo’s drums. A fascinating detail highlighted by fans and forums: John Lennon and George Harrison played the guitar solo in unison on their Fender Stratocasters, something that was unusual. It is also known that the Beatles demanded three times more treble (brightness) on the guitars than the equipment allowed, creating that distinctive, sparkling sound. Ringo Starr used his famous Ludwig Super Classic Oyster Black Pearl (1964 kit) for this recording. According to Beatles fans, this is one of the most iconic drum kits in the history of rock. Kit specifications according to Gary Astridge (researcher on Ringo’s kits): Bass drum: 14‘ × 20’ Floor tom: 8‘ × 12’ Snare drum: 4‘ × 14’ Floor tom: 16‘ × 16’ The drum part is ‘simple and straightforward’, perfect for drummers just starting out, but the subtleties of Ringo’s playing are wonderful and numerous Ringo plays the bass drum on the first track alongside Lennon’s acoustic guitar Ringo’s groove is very characteristic of his style: clean, with a good feel, not over the top but with plenty of style Some fans note that Ringo also uses a tambourine in the song, rounding out the sound The drumming has a very restrained and precise sound, typical of Rubber Soul, where Ringo demonstrated his mastery of dynamic control Ringo took possession of this kit on 31 May 1964 and used it exclusively until September 1968, except during the 1965 tour. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- FOLLOW ME: FULL COVERS CHANNEL: ‪@juodet‬ Instagram @abbey_tunes TikTok abbey_tunes_drums
