Zaina Lank II An Island || In Middle of Wular Lake Bandipora || Famous Heritage Site in Kashmir

Zaina Lank is one of the famous heritage site in Kashmir. It was built by King Zainal Abideen, in 14 century. The island was built by the king to safeguard the lives of the people from floods as they were often caught by the tumultuous floods of the Lake. He had also constructed a mosque and a temple on the island. My grandfather (Mr. Assadullah Lone) once told me that Zaina Lank was in middle of Wular Lake but nowadays the area of Wular Lake is occupied by people. He told me that from Bandipora to Asham and Ajjass to Watlab was area of Wular. He also said the island has been built in such a way that if the water level rises in the Wular the island remains afloat as water does not enter inside the island. If your want to go in winter first reach Madwan (village) than you can easily walk to island. In Summers it is impossible to go without Boat.
