According to police investigation, the case has taken a dramatic turn with revelations pointing towards a revenge motive linked to a love affair. The incident occurred on Thursday evening when assailants arrived in a car and opened fire on Rabindra Nayak before fleeing the spot. Following the incident, angry villagers and family members blocked the Gania–Kantilo road at Pandara Singha Chhak demanding justice and immediate arrest of the accused, leading to heavy traffic disruption. As per police sources and SDPO Khandapada Saroj Kumar Sahu’s statement, the case is connected to personal enmity. It is alleged that the elder brother of the deceased had eloped with the wife of accused Dilip Mantri, which reportedly led to retaliation. During investigation, Dilip Mantri allegedly confessed to the crime, and police have recovered the firearm, ammunition, and the vehicle used in the crime. A scientific team has also begun forensic examination at the spot. Meanwhile, multiple police teams from Daspalla, Nuagaon, Khandapada, and Gania are trying to control the situation and convince protesters. The victim’s family and villagers have stated that they will continue the road blockade until all accused are arrested.
