A Samsung N915F with a reported malfunction is being repaired and does not power on. Diagnostics: When connected to a power supply and pressing the power button, the device does not power on. Current consumption of 160 mAh remains after releasing the power button. Input voltage measurements on the CPU are normal. The memory chip is suspected. Repair: EMMC removal followed by testing with Easy Jtag Plus. Memory is intact in the boot sector. As a preventative measure, the EMMC file system was formatted and then a dump was restored. Installing memory on the CPU did not produce a positive result. A decision was made to remove the CPU and perform a reball. This operation did not produce a positive result. A tentative conclusion was reached that the CPU needs to be replaced. The device was left without further repair, as a working used system board is cheaper than subsequent repairs.
