WMP Three Phase Slug Catcher

With separation, the goal is to separate different liquids and liquid from vapor. This is a typical primary separator for upstream oil and gas. Both liquids and vapor enter the top inlet slotted pipe diffuser which disengages the bulk free liquids. As the vapor travels along the top of the horizontal drum, any liquids left within it will be further separated by gravity as it travels across the drum. Any remaining free liquid is captured and removed by the vane mist eliminator before the vapor exits the drum’s final top outlet. In this demonstration, the two immiscible mixed liquids travelling along the bottom of the horizontal drum enter the lower perforated calming baffle which straightens the flow, before entering the knitted wire mesh liquid-liquid coalescer. The two different liquids are separated by the mesh element, and the lighter liquid exits by flowing over the outlet weir plate baffle.
