While every other car on the road remained totally analog, the 959 brought turbocharging, all-wheel-drive, adjustable suspension, torque vectoring, and a dozen other technologies to the table. It was the fastest car in the world when it launched, reaching 198 mph in 1986, and instantly became an icon. But it also kind of looks like a 911, and kind of drives like a 911. Would the reality match the expectations? I got 2 hours with a 959 on a wet German backroads to find out!
