Part 4 will focus heavily on the ladies. The big theme I wanted to address in this actually fit better in Part 4, thank god, because I did not want to sacrifice any of my other nonsense from Part 3. I get very silly at times in this one, so apologies for that. I also will not blame you if you need to watch it on a slower speed or ride the pause button. 😅 🐝 Some of what we get up to in this video: 🥃 A trip down memory lane to examine Colin's people-pleasing coping mechanisms and how they get him both in and out of trouble. 🤡 That trip involves a visit with one of my favorite characters. Not who you think. 💙 We may or may not find ourselves heavily relying on a comparison to another Intellectual Property, because *vibes*. 🪻 Hyacinth's Greatest Hits 🫦 John just being the sexy ass nerd that he is. The nonchalance with which he falls into step in the wedding dance makes me laugh every time. 🐰 An Easter Egg Hunt 👯‍♀️ If you all still don't believe me that they plan this show to be symmetrical down to the second after watching some of these shots, I don't know what to tell you except to keep a look out for my Full Moon Ball / Queen's Ball edit. 😹 And Part 4 of this one, which is also undeniable. 💚 There's not enough Featheringtons in this one for my liking, except who am I kidding when Daddy Featherington is the star? 🔥 🎹 I didn't get nearly as in-depth with the Colin analysis as I could, but he is of course a subject for many many more (most) of my videos, so don't worry. More insanity to look forward to. Actually, I do just have to do a brief (haha) comment on Colin (Lies. I will fill the character limit, as always), because people are gonna come for me when they don't understand that no one has ever loved Colin Bridgerton more than I do, nor judged him less. 😹 The things I say in this video are objective statements, not judgmental ones. Everybody's personality is complex and a tangled mess of opposing traits that somehow go together, especially Colin. He is wise and foolish. Confident and insecure. Steady and impulsive. Calm and "occasionally excitable." And Colin's sensitivity and empathy give him an ability to navigate the world with relative ease when he wants to, even if it takes something out of him emotionally. When I put him next to Jack, I think you can see that I am showing a GOOD man with certain talents and tendencies, and how he uses them trying to get through life, versus how Jack does. But that's not really the point of this video. A true analysis of just them has been on the docket since this channel's inception. Colin was born eight or so years into an eighteen-year span of children. The oldest of six born after a long gap. Too young to be included with his brothers and too old to be babied. When their father died and Violet was consumed by grief, Anthony became Head of Household, and Benedict seemingly took it upon himself (or had no choice really) to be the nurturing parental figure. We can kinda tell this in how close Ben still keeps to his mom and the babies, plus in how Violet consults him/bosses him around to keep Anthony in check, like they're co-parents. It's easy to figure out what Colin did. He probably saw his mother crying and wanted to make her smile, so he picked her flowers. He made Daphne laugh. He solved a problem for Francesca. He made sure he never had any needs of his own so that he wasn't a burden to Anthony, and when he did catch Anthony's negative attention, he had a really hard time dealing with it. He made himself someone everyone enjoyed being around but nobody really noticed. His version of "keeping his head down" was hiding in plain sight and keeping a calm, light energy going in the room. So no, it wasn't actually technically difficult for Colin to adopt his Clown Pirate persona, though it was emotionally. He thrives on putting on a production. He needs to be doing something, otherwise "How am I to help you?" It felt like a good time to look at that a little bit, while we were covering his drawing room make-believe. We love a dreamer over here in Cressida's Catty Corner. Especially one with wavy hair who looks good in a cravat.
