Idea Vilariño, for her part, seems to be the clearest exception to the old adage “poetry doesn’t sell.” What could unite their destinies, beyond the peculiarity and similarity of their names, Ida and Idea, and the fact that they share initials? Perhaps their shared dual literary identity: both are, first and foremost, poets; Both are, subsequently, prominent translators and critics.
