Intelectuales uruguayos de mediados del siglo XX (Capítulo III): Idea Vilariño e Ida Vitale
In these first decades of the 21st century, the centenaries of many writers who, through literature, criticism, and historiography, produced a kind of golden age of Uruguayan intellectual life and thought in the heart of the 20th century, have been or will be celebrated. “Thinking in Dialogue.” An original idea by Professor Pablo Rocca. In four installments. This is the third. Ida Vitale and Idea Vilariño. Two of our most admired poets. Both received the highest accolades, very different, perhaps significantly so: Ida Vitale won, among many others, the Cervantes Prize, the most important award in the Spanish language. Idea Vilariño, for her part, seems to be the clearest exception to the old adage “poetry doesn’t sell.” What could unite their destinies, beyond the peculiarity and similarity of their names, Ida and Idea, and the fact that they share initials? Perhaps their shared dual literary identity: both are, first and foremost, poets; Both are, subsequently, prominent translators and critics. Fernando Medina, director of Oír Con Los Ojos (Hearing With Your Eyes), leads this exploration of these two important figures, speaking with the series' creator, Pablo Rocca, and Lucas Milani, a Brazilian musician, poet, and critic based in Uruguay. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Become a member of this channel to enjoy exclusive benefits: https://www.youtube.com/EnPerspectiva...
