Transform Your Slice in 5 Minutes - Tennis Backhand Slice Technique
Transform Your Slice in 5 Minutes - Tennis Backhand Slice Technique Does your backhand slice float? A floating slice becomes very easy for your opponents to attack and dictate play with. A low bouncing, fast and aggressive slice can be lethal on the tennis court. That's why it's important to focus on these fundamentals to have a great slice. Transform Your Slice in 5 Minutes: Step one to having a great slice backhand is to ensure you're using the continental grip. This will allow you to have the racket angle set at the appropriate position when you make contact and be stable with your racket and wrist. Step two is early preparation, ensuring you get the racket back fast and into the power position quickly. This creates time and gives you the space you need to accelerate later in the swing. Step three is creating an L shape in your racket head and arm/wrist. This L shape will give you leverage in the arm and racket and ensure a stable position for the contact point. Step four is to use a high-to-low or high-to-medium swing path whenever the ball is mid-height or higher. This swing will allow you to cut down the back of the ball and produce an aggressive ball flight. Think about Federer's slice backhand swing path. Step five is to finish your slice by cutting down and across your body, finishing on the right side of your body if you're right-handed. This is very different from an old-school style slice where the racket travels toward the target.
