Dublin Festival of History 2025 - The Root of All Evil: The Irish Boundary Commission
The Irish Boundary Commission, established in 1924, was tasked with determining the boundary between the Irish Free State & Northern Ireland. Chaired by Justice Richard Feetham, it recommended border changes based on population and other considerations. However, the final report, completed in November 1925, was never officially published, leading to a disagreement resulting in the Irish Commissioner resigning. 100 years on from the shelving of the report, historian Cormac Moore explores the fascinating and infuriating story behind its momentous failure, which would abandon swathes of Northern nationalists close to the border and have long-lasting, catastrophic consequences for the entirety of the island of Ireland. This event will be livestreamed on the via the festival website at https://dublinfestivalofhistory.ie/live For more information see https://dublinfestivalofhistory.ie/
