Eve. Luke 8:26-39 Healing of the Demon-Possessed Man in the Country of the Gergesenes “And they came by ship into the country of the Gergesenes, which is over against Galilee. And when he had gone out to land, there met him out of the city a certain man which had a devil, and which for a long time wore no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. And when he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I beseech thee, torment me not. For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man: for many years it had possessed him: and he was bound with chains and fetters, and kept him: but he, breaking the bonds, was driven of the devil into the wilderness. And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion. For many devils had entered into him. in it. And they begged Him not to command them to go into the deep. Now there was a large herd of pigs feeding on the mountain. And they begged Him to allow them to enter them; and He allowed them. And the demons came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and drowned. And when the guards saw what had happened, they fled and reported it in the city and in the countryside. And they went out to see what had happened, and came to Jesus. And they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. And those who had seen it told them how he had been healed. And all the crowd from the country of the Gergesenes asked Him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear. And He, And he entered into a ship, and returned. And the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him. But Jesus sent him away, saying, Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done for thee. And he departed, and preached throughout all the city how great things Jesus had done for him.
