Gospel of the day Tuesday, June 23, 2026 Audio Gospel of the day in Italian with commentary by    / @frastefano   Liturgy of the Word today, from the Gospel according to Matthew Glory to you, O Lord Mt 7:6, 12-14 At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: "Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot and turn and tear you to pieces. Whatever you wish that men would do to you, do also to them; for this is the Law and the Prophets. Enter through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life, and few find it." Word of the Lord Praise to you, O Christ It's easy to blame evil, as if evil were stronger. But it's not evil that's always stronger: often we choose the easier path. It's easier to complain than to love, to judge than to expose ourselves, to say "it's none of my business" instead of taking a step toward someone. This is why Jesus speaks of a narrow door: not because God wants to complicate our lives, but because true love almost never comes from comfort. Then Jesus gives us a simple and powerful rule: "Whatever you want men to do to you, do so to them." It's the Gospel reduced to the essentials. Don't wait for others to be just with you: you start. Don't wait for the world to become human: be human yourself. Saint Maximilian Kolbe lived this in the most radical way. In Auschwitz, before a man condemned to death, he didn't make a speech. He chose. He put himself in his place. With that gesture, the narrow door opened: narrow, painful, but full of light. The broad way says: "Save yourself." The narrow way says: "Love even when it costs." And that's where true life begins. Not when everything is easy, but when you choose the good even if no one forces it on you.
