Get ready for another round of EPA engine emission regulation changes. Starting in 2027, diesel engines have to comply with even more stringent emissions requirements, while manufacturers also must meet a CO2 average across all vehicles sold. What this means for diesel engine manufacturers is that diesel engines have to become even more efficient. In the case of the Cummins EPA27 X15 engine, the OEM noted at a recent press that its engine along with the full powertrain offers up to a 7% fuel efficiency improvement. How'd they do it?
