GR 20 - Corsica 🇨🇵 Toughest trail in October solo trekking & camping #corsica #backpacking #hiking
Happy November, beautiful souls. Here we go — the legendary GR20. Why is the film so long? There are millions of videos on YouTube, but very few of them really show the technical sections — and if they do, it’s only small parts. I was using an Insta360 camera clipped to a one-metre stick above my head for about 90% of the climbs I did. Everything is in real time, which is why the first chapters are 20–30 minutes long. I wanted to make a film that is informative, entertaining, and different from what is already out there. The film is split into chapters, not just days. The 360° climbs are also in separate sections, at least the long ones, so everyone can choose what they want to watch. You can also skip ahead by double-tapping the screen. Please don’t take example from my scrambling. I’m not a professional climber. I’m also not very graceful — especially with a heavy pack — but I always make sure I have three contact points. It’s very dangerous to use walking poles while scrambling. Sadly, 90% of hikers on the GR20 do it, simply because there is nowhere to put your backpack or poles aside. On my left side I already have the tripod, and I did try to strap my poles on big scrambles, but sometimes it’s just impossible. Still, many times the poles helped me push myself up. The correct way of scrambling down is facing the rock. For me, that’s sometimes hard, because I can’t see through the pouch with drone in front. I feel more confident facing the other way around. I’m doing my best to bring you the vibe of the trail — the emotions I felt standing on top of mountains, the real fear of vulnerability in exposed places, and the same determination to make the right decision when pain, exhaustion or bad weather arrive. Because I don’t want you to feel alone, weak, or like a loser if you quit the trail or take a lower route. Victory is simply stepping onto the trail at all. This time you are literally with me — sitting on my backpack all the way. Well… almost all way. And don’t miss the last chapters from Ajaccio 😉 Enjoy watching — and the stunning autumn views from beautiful Corsica in France.
