Monorail Safari Tour | Busch Gardens Tampa | March 1995

Tour of the safari from the monorail at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Filmed during our family vacation in March 1995. History: The Skyway Safari at Busch Gardens Tampa opened on September 13th, 1966. Built by Arrow Development Company with a cost of 1.3 million dollars, it featured 12 person air conditioned cars with on board audio. On opening day it cost $1 for adults to ride and $0.40 for children. The monorail operated until May 13th 1999. After it closed, the monorail was sold to Kennywood for a potential reuse as parking lot transportation. Those plans did not come to fruition and it was scrapped a few years later. The monorail station was converted to the queue for the roller coaster Cheetah Hunt which opened in 2011. #monorail #buschgardenstampa #buschgardens #safari
