Shirley Bassey - Hey Jude (1994 Royal Variety Performance)

Shirley Bassey performed in the 1994 Royal Variety Series, which aired on the BBC on December 3, 1994. Other well known performers that night were Tony Bennett, Cilla Black Ronnie Corbett, Brian Conley, and Lulu. Shirley performed three songs, including 'I Was Born To Sing Forever, As If We Never Said Goodbye, and Hey Jude'. This clip includes the song, 'Hey Jude'. Better footage has been captured for most of the song. But, I added some older video of Shirley tossing roses to the audience, and singing the final ending of the song. Additional video was added to show Shirley's reaction when she received a standing ovation, which was the first receive in twenty years. Shirley has recorded many Beatles songs over the last 6 decades. She did also record the song, 'Hey Jude', and it was included on her 1997 live album, called the '(60th) Birthday Concert', and 17 years later a studio recording on her 2014 album, 'Hello Like Before'. ABOUT This Song: "Hey Jude" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles that was released as a non-album single in August 1968. It was written by Paul McCartney and credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership. The single was the Beatles' first release on their Apple record label and one of the "First Four" singles by Apple's roster of artists, marking the label's public launch. "Hey Jude" was a number-one hit in many countries around the world and became the year's top-selling single in the UK, the US, Australia and Canada. Its nine-week run at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 tied the all-time record in 1968 for the longest run at the top of the US charts, a record it held for nine years. It has sold approximately eight million copies and is frequently included on music critics' lists of the greatest songs of all time. LYRICS: Hey Jude, don't make it bad Take a sad song and make it better Remember to let her into your heart Then you can start to make it better Hey Jude, don't be afraid You were made to go out and get her Remember to let her under your skin Then you'll begin to make it better And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain Don't carry the world upon your shoulders Don't you know that it's a fool who plays it cool By making the world a little colder Na na na, na na, na na na na Hey Jude, don't let me down You were made to go out and get her Remember to let her under your skin Then you'll start to make it better So let it out and let it in, hey Jude, begin You're waiting for someone to perform with And don't you know that it's just you? Hey Jude, you'll do The movement you need is on your shoulder Na na na, na na, na na na na Hey Jude, don't let me down You were made to go out and get her Remember to let her under your skin Then you'll begin to make it better, better, better, better Na na na, na na na na Na na na na, hey Jude Na na na, na-na na na Na-na na na, hey Jude Na na na, na na na na Na na na na, hey Jude Na na na, nana na na Na na na na, all together now, hey Jude
